eBiking Australia covers my blogs about touring around Australia on an electric-assist bicycle.  Find out how I am able to cover long distances in a country where power outlets might be 3 or 4 days apart.  Share in the highs and lows of the road and marvel at the diverse landscapes from the beaches to the mountains and the arid interior.

#36 The Top of Eyre Peninsula |578 km|

Posted on November 23, 2017April 25, 2023 by Ebiketraveller

Thursday 16 November, 2017.  Wudinna to Lake Giles |123 km| [It’s all wheat country around here – gently rolling barren hills.  There was a strong wind from the starboard quarter, and it was surprisingly quite cold actually]. I charged up on the generator at a roadside stop with only 55 km travelled, and…

#35 West Coast of Eyre Peninsula

Posted on November 16, 2017April 25, 2023 by Ebiketraveller

South Australia, November 2017, and I continue my ride around Eyre Peninsula.  This time up the remote and rugged west coast, then return to Adelaide via “the top”.

#34 East Coast of Eyre Peninsula |807 km|

Posted on November 7, 2017October 3, 2023 by Ebiketraveller

Adelaide, South Australia, November 2017, and I decide to ride off in the general direction of Perth across the Nullarbor Plain.  OK, so I didn’t quite make it as far as Perth in the end, and instead ended up just doing a quick 1,600 km (1,000 mile) loop of Eyre Peninsula and back to Adelaide. …

#33 Down the Lower Murray |634 km|

Posted on October 27, 2017October 23, 2023 by Ebiketraveller

The second half of my long ride down the River Murray from Swan Hill to Blanchetown followed the same pattern as the first half from Tintaldra to Swan Hill. That is: monotonous and dangerous, and wondering why on earth I was so intent on doing it.

#32 Down the Upper Murray |763 km|

Posted on October 23, 2017April 25, 2023 by Ebiketraveller

I start my long odyssey down the Murray River by first going upstream for 105 km.  The designated ‘official’ jumping-off point for cyclists doing the “source-to-sea” Murray trip is the bridge at Towong, still 70-odd km further upstream, but I’m not quite that purist!

#31 Central Victoria |871 km|

The Great Victorian Rail Trail is “Australia’s longest continuous rail trail” –  worth checking out, I thought.  And the rail trail leads into Victoria’s so-called ‘High Country’ with it’s “stunning mountains, valleys, rivers and lakes […] perfect for relaxation and adventure”.  Who could resist!

#30 Victoria’s East Coast |760 km|

A highlight of any cycling trip between Sydney and Melbourne are the Rail Trails in the east.  Not to be missed!

#29 The NSW South Coast |674 km|

Posted on September 26, 2017April 25, 2023 by Ebiketraveller

A fantastic ride! The first 400km of this journey were characterized by bad wind-karma, and I’d have gladly sacrificed a goat if I thought it would’ve made the slightest bit of difference.

Tuesday, 22 August: Caboolture to Beenleigh 98 km

2,836 km in 29 days Day 29 Route Map It rained several times last night, but I was in that crappy motel wedged between the railway line and road viaduct, so I was glad I hadn’t camped out.  The weather was still iffy when I set off again early this morning but it cleared up…
