2,545 km in 26 days of riding
Day 26 Route Map
Wouldn’t you know it! That fierce wind from the north? Well, it turned around last night and blew just as strong from the south! I battled serious head winds for 3 hours after leaving Hervey Bay at 7.45 and only got 65km battery range, so pulled in at some road works and recharged for 3 hours, and at the same time had to replace the trailer tube. I couldn’t just patch the puncture because the patch wouldn’t stick due to the green slime I’d put in. The road engineer confirmed the southerly only blew up this morning, and was forecast for the next 2 days, so back on the road again at 2pm and into that same dire headwind, which soon became a buffeting cross-wind from the SW. There was lots of traffic but they all gave me a wide berth and there was plenty of shoulder.
I was knackered by the time I pulled in to the Gunalda truck stop at 4pm – a quick “Pasta Alfredo” ready-meal and I was tucked up in the tent by 5.30.
