Gayndah to Aramara – 106 km

Tuesday August 15 Route Map

[Bumpy road with no verge or shoulder.  Scary].

From Gayndah I made easy going to Ban Ban Springs within 2-hours and then on to Biggenden by 12.30, where I had a crappy counter lunch in a pub.  After that, I had a roadside charge-up session for an hour about an hour out of Biggenden on a terrible section of road, and afterwards anxiously plowed on looking for a likely night stopover place.  My bike chain had obviously stretched to a critical point and it slipped off the rear cog three times on this section, once dangerously so whilst going up a steep hill with no verge, and I had to lay the bike down on the roadway to get the chain back on.  Fortunately this is relatively easy to do with a Rohloff single-speed chain.

No complaints though about my stopover selection of Aramara, where I camped in the town reserve near an abandoned railway line.
